Oventechs policies

Privacy Policy

How Oventechs collects, uses and protects the personal information you give us when you book or enquire about a repair.

Last updated 30 October 2026

Who is responsible for your information

Oventechs (electric oven, cooker and hob repair specialists, Croydon, London) is the data controller for the information described in this policy. We handle it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@oventechs.co.uk or on 0203 621 1034.

The information we collect

We only ask for what we need to diagnose and carry out a repair and to keep proper records.

  • Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
  • Property details: the address and postcode where the appliance is located, plus any access or parking notes you give us.
  • Appliance details: the type, brand and age of the appliance, and the fault you describe.
  • Your relationship to the property: whether you are the homeowner, a tenant, the landlord or a managing agent, and who is paying for the repair.
  • Payment and invoicing details where a repair is paid before a visit or settled after one.
  • Records of our contact with you: calls, emails, bookings, engineer reports and invoices.
  • Basic technical information such as the pages you visit on this site, collected by our hosting provider to keep the site secure and working.

How we use it and why

Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for each use. Ours are:

  • To arrange, dispatch and complete your repair, and to contact you about the appointment — necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To take payment and recover sums owed for pre-paid landlord and agent bookings — necessary to perform our contract and to recover debts.
  • To keep accounting, tax and safety records — compliance with a legal obligation.
  • To improve our service, keep records of recurring faults and defend any claim — our legitimate interests as a repair business.
  • To send occasional offers or service reminders, only where you have opted in — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Landlord, tenant and managing agent bookings

Where a booking is made by a tenant on a landlord's behalf, or by a landlord or managing agent who does not attend the property, we will share the minimum needed — the appliance fault, the appointment and the amount due — with the person responsible for payment so the visit can go ahead.

Where you give us another person's details, for example a tenant's phone number or a landlord's email address, you confirm you have their permission to pass them on for the purpose of the repair.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only where it is needed to deliver the repair or where the law requires:

  • The engineer attending your property, who receives the appointment, address, contact number and fault details.
  • Parts suppliers, where a component has to be ordered for your appliance.
  • Payment providers and our bank, to process card or bank transfer payments.
  • Our email, hosting and booking-system providers, who act on our instructions under contract.
  • Our accountant and professional advisers, and HM Revenue & Customs or the police where we are legally obliged to disclose.

How long we keep it

Repair and invoice records are kept for seven years to meet accounting and tax rules and to honour the 12-month guarantee. Enquiries and quotes that do not become bookings are kept for 24 months. Marketing consent records are kept until you withdraw consent, plus a short period afterwards as proof.

How we keep it safe

Access to booking records is limited to the staff and engineers who need it, protected by individual logins and role-based permissions. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by us. If a breach ever put your rights at risk we would tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office without undue delay.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold and give you a copy.
  • Correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete information we no longer need, where there is no legal reason to keep it.
  • Restrict or object to certain uses, including marketing at any time.
  • Provide your information in a portable format.

We respond within one month and never charge for a normal request. To exercise a right, email info@oventechs.co.uk from the address you booked with. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would always prefer the chance to put it right first.
