Oven Thermostat Repair
The thermostat decides how hot the oven gets, so when it drifts you notice it in the food long before the appliance looks faulty. Overcooking, burning on one shelf and baking that takes twice as long are all classic thermostat symptoms.
What usually causes it
Thermostat out of calibration
The oven runs 20–40°C hotter or colder than the dial. We test against a calibrated probe before replacing anything.
Failed temperature sensor
Electronic ovens use a sensor rather than a capillary. A faulty sensor throws an error code or stops the heat entirely.
Sticking thermostat contacts
Contacts that weld shut leave the oven running flat out until the safety cut-out intervenes.
Knob or selector fault
A worn selector can stop the thermostat being commanded at all, which looks identical to a failed thermostat.
What the £79 visit includes
Expert diagnostic
A qualified engineer tests the appliance properly — element continuity, thermostat calibration, fan motor, control board and supply — rather than guessing at the part.
Safety check
Every visit includes a check of the isolation switch, the wiring and the earth. If something upstream of the appliance is unsafe we tell you immediately and what to do about it.
12-month guarantee
The repair itself is guaranteed for a full year. If the same fault returns, we come back and fix it at no extra labour cost.
