Oven Tripping the Fuse Box
A cooker that trips the fuse box is usually telling you one component has failed to earth — most often an element, a hob ring or a damaged length of cable. It is a safety fault rather than an inconvenience, so it should be tested properly rather than reset and forgotten.
What usually causes it
Element earth fault
An element that has absorbed moisture or cracked internally will trip the RCD the moment it is switched on.
Moisture after cleaning
Water behind the rear cover or in the element can trip the supply. It is common after a steam clean or a spill.
Hob ring or generator fault
On ceramic and solid plate hobs a failed ring or generator will take the whole circuit out when that zone is used.
Isolator or wiring damage
Heat damage at the isolation switch or a loose terminal can trip the circuit without the appliance itself being faulty.
What the £79 visit includes
Expert diagnostic
A qualified engineer tests the appliance properly — element continuity, thermostat calibration, fan motor, control board and supply — rather than guessing at the part.
Safety check
Every visit includes a check of the isolation switch, the wiring and the earth. If something upstream of the appliance is unsafe we tell you immediately and what to do about it.
12-month guarantee
The repair itself is guaranteed for a full year. If the same fault returns, we come back and fix it at no extra labour cost.
