Hob Not Heating
Electric hobs fail in a small number of predictable ways: a burnt-out ring, a failed generator, a control that no longer switches, or a cracked top letting moisture in. We test each zone individually rather than condemning the whole hob.
What usually causes it
Failed ring or element
One zone stops heating while the others work normally — the classic sign of a failed ring element.
Faulty energy regulator
The control that varies the heat can fail open or closed, leaving a ring cold or permanently on.
Cracked glass letting moisture in
A hairline crack in the ceramic top allows water into the element, which shows up as tripping or uneven heat.
Isolator or terminal block
Loose or heat-damaged terminals at the hob's connection point can take out one or all zones.
What the £79 visit includes
Expert diagnostic
A qualified engineer tests the appliance properly — element continuity, thermostat calibration, fan motor, control board and supply — rather than guessing at the part.
Safety check
Every visit includes a check of the isolation switch, the wiring and the earth. If something upstream of the appliance is unsafe we tell you immediately and what to do about it.
12-month guarantee
The repair itself is guaranteed for a full year. If the same fault returns, we come back and fix it at no extra labour cost.
