Cracked Hob Glass Replacement
A cracked hob top is a genuine safety issue because liquid can reach the live elements beneath it. We isolate the hob, fit the correct glass for your model and test every zone before we leave.
What usually causes it
Impact damage
A dropped pan or heavy jar is the usual cause. The crack can spread quickly once the hob is next used.
Heat stress cracks
A pan that is too large, or an empty pan left on a ring, can crack a ceramic top through thermal shock.
Older glass with edge chips
Small chips at the edge propagate across the surface. Replacing early avoids damage to the elements below.
Water getting under the glass
Once moisture reaches the insulation the hob will trip the electrics, so the top must be replaced, not sealed.

A qualified engineer tests the appliance properly — element continuity, thermostat calibration, fan motor, control board and supply — rather than guessing at the part.
Safety check
Every visit includes a check of the isolation switch, the wiring and the earth. If something upstream of the appliance is unsafe we tell you immediately and what to do about it.
