Hob Touch Controls Not Working
Touch controls fail in two ways: a genuine electronic fault, or a stuck child lock nobody knew was on. We rule out the simple explanation first, then test the panel and control board.
What usually causes it
Child lock engaged
A padlock symbol or repeated beep usually means the lock is on. We show you the unlock sequence for your model.
Moisture on the touch panel
Liquid under the glass confuses the capacitive sensors and leaves the hob unresponsive or switching itself off.
Failed control board
Corroded or failed electronics stop the panel registering touches at all.
Damaged membrane or ribbon
A cracked touch membrane or loose ribbon connector gives intermittent response that worsens over time.
What the £79 visit includes
Expert diagnostic
A qualified engineer tests the appliance properly — element continuity, thermostat calibration, fan motor, control board and supply — rather than guessing at the part.
Safety check
Every visit includes a check of the isolation switch, the wiring and the earth. If something upstream of the appliance is unsafe we tell you immediately and what to do about it.
12-month guarantee
The repair itself is guaranteed for a full year. If the same fault returns, we come back and fix it at no extra labour cost.
